Would minister in Galilee.

Isa 9:1-2  "Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.  The people have seen a great light:  they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined."

The Messiah:

Would be of the seed of David.

Jer 23:5-6  "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth."

Would come with a specific mission.

Dan 9:24  "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

Would be cut off for others..

Dan 9:26. "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:  and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."

Would offer Himself as a lamb sacrifice.

Gen 22:8  "And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:  so they went both of them together."

Would be an offering for sin.

Isa 53:10-11  "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:  when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD  shall prosper in his hand.  He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:  by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities"

The Messiah:

Would grow up into a normal looking man.

Isa 53:2   "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground:  he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."

The Messiah:

Would not open his mouth in his defense.

Isa 53:7  "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:  he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before his shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."

Would be killed for the sins of others.

Isa 53:12  "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death:  and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Would be killed by hanging on a tree.

Deut 21:22-23  "And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree.  His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that the land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance."

The Messiah:

Would shed His blood to make atonement for the sins of the world.

Would keep all His bones but be pierced when dying.

Ps 22:13-18  "They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.  I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint:  my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.  My strength is dried up like potsherd; and my tongue cleaves to my jaws;  and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.  For dogs have encompassed me:  the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:  they look and stare upon me.  They part my garments and cast lots upon my vesture."

Would die heart broken and without comforters.

Isa 69:20  "Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness:  and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none."

The Messiah:

Would be the victim of slander and lies.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:  his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom, that which shall not be destroyed."

Zech 12:10

The house of David will mourn for him whom they have pierced as one who mourns for an only son.

"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:  and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, was one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."
